Gout Symptoms - Signs Of a Incoming Gout Attack

Friday, March 21st, 2008

Did you know that a little over 2 million Americans suffer from gout symptoms every year? If you want to reduce your chances of suffering from gout for too long, you’ll need to know the signs to look for so you can get immediate treatment and decrease the amount of time it takes for you to recover. After reading the following indicators of gout below, you’ll be equipped to more easily stave off the more debilitating aspects of this arthritic disease.

The first of several gout symptoms will more than likely creep up on you at night while you’re sleeping. You’ll wake up to swollen, shiny red skin pulled tightly over an inflamed joint. The big toe is usually the main culprit, but other joints can be affected too. Check your wrists, elbows, ankles, knees, and fingers.

Next, monitor the pain your joint to see if it becomes more painful over several hours. After a few hours have passed, you may not even be able to touch the joint without wincing due to the excruciating pain.

Sometimes gout symptoms can come in the form of feelings of extreme tiredness and a slight fever. If you feel chronically fatigued and listless in addition to having a painful and swollen joint, then you probably are suffering from gout. Also, take your temperature: 99.5 degrees Fahrenheit or higher in addition to that painful joint may signal gout too.

Running down the gout symptoms checklist again: do you have a shiny, red, swollen joint that warm and painful to the touch? Does the pain get progressively worse over the course of a few hours? In addition to the painful joint, do you have a slight fever or do you feel fatigued? If you experience these indicators, get treatment or try gout pain remedies as soon as possible.

You probably have something in your kitchen right now that can immediately relieve pain from any gout symptoms you have. Control and prevent current and future gout attacks naturally without medications, prescriptions, or untested remedies by visiting http://www.GetGoutRelief.com right now

Foods that May Induce the Symptoms of Gout

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

Gout is a type of rheumatoid arthritis caused when purines found in foods that cause gout are broken down by the body into uric acid. This chemical is not harmful itself, and is usually filtered by the kidneys, but consumption of high amounts of foods that cause gout can cause elevated levels of uric acid, a condition called hyperuricemia. When the levels of uric acid in the blood get to be too high, sharp crystals of uric acid can accumulate between joints and cause the inflammation known as gout.

Generally, foods that cause gout are high in fat, and sufferers of gout are recommended to consume less than 30% of their calories from fat. Some foods that cause gout due to their high purine counts are fish, poultry, pork and beef. Other foods that cause gout more frequently are organ meats, such as kidney, heart, and liver, because they contain the highest concentration of purines. Some foods that cause gout do not actually contain meat, but are derivatives of meat, such as broths, fish roe, and bouillon.

In addition, foods that cause gout also include dairy products that are high in fat, such as whole milk, cheese, ice cream, and butter. Soy products can be used as a substitute for dairy products in these cases. Also, some foods that cause gout are vegetables, such as spinach, mushrooms, cauliflower, peas, asparagus, lentils, and beans. Yeast is also a food that causes gout, and by extension beer is also a food that causes gout since it is made from yeast.

Poor kidney function can also be a contributing factor to gout, since the kidneys normally filter out uric acid from the blood stream. In addition to avoiding foods that cause gout, patients should drink plenty of water, and eat foods such as tofu, olive oil, and nuts to help reduce uric acid levels in the bloodstream. Foods rich in complex carbohydrates, such as vegetables, fruits, and whole grains may also ease symptoms of gout. In addition, anti-inflammatory medication combined with a weight loss plan and a diet low in foods that cause gout can alleviate symptoms.

How You Can Control Your Blood Sugar?

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Excess sugar and stress are the two main cause of diabetes. This excess sugar causes the pancreas to secrete high levels of insulin. Insulin removes this excess sugar out of the bloodstream, converts it to fat and stores it in fat cells.

What’s the cause of insulin resistance?

Insulin becomes less efficient to process sugar due to increase in fat cell. This triggers insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes. Pancreas ability to secrete natural insulin hampers in this case.

Source of Glucose

Source of glucose is carbohydrates. Fruits and vegetables are the best source of sugar because these are natural fructose sugars.

Threat from sucrose

Man made foods such as candies, soft drinks, breads, processed meats, pastries have high sugar and these are dangerous. These foods enter straight into the blood stream and increase sugar level immediately.

Glucose that is not immediately burned for energy, stored as fat in fat cells by Insulin. In the process, blood sugar begins to drop and you started feeling hungry.

Solution to maintain your blood sugar

First recommendation is to eat carbohydrates such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and beans, which digest more slowly.

Proper diet increases blood sugar slowly and glucose is available as energy for several hours. Benefit is glucose is not needed to rush in to turn the sugar into fat.

Blood sugar level stays even and excess sugar does not have to be stored as fat; you don’t feel hungry just a few hours after eating. Added benefit is some carbohydrates contain nutrients such as fiber, which also help you lose and control weight, and remove waste from your colon.

Most Important point to remember to control blood sugar

Proper diet and moderate exercise is must to remain healthy. Junk food skyrockets your blood sugar. Unfortunately, this is often overlooked in diet plans.

Millions are people are suffering from diabetes and cholesterol across the globe. I too was suffering from cholesterol and hypertension for last few years. I was sick and tired of living on medicine, finally I decided to look for alternative medicine. Finally, I managed to reduce my blood sugar, hypertension with those simple techniques within 63 days. Diabetes Diet Recommendations From The Experts

Friday, January 18th, 2008

With all of the diabetes diet cookbooks and eating plans on the market, you might think that it is easy for diabetics to learn how and what they should eat, but the truth is that people may be getting inappropriate or inaccurate advice. According to the American Diabetes Association Diet experts, there is no single eating plan that works for everyone. A pre diabetes diet or a diet for those who are at high risk for developing diabetes may be quite different from a diet for those who are managing existing diabetes.

It would be great if everyone who is at risk for or suffers from diabetes would consult a nutritionist to help them design a specific eating plan based on their preferences and their individual needs for blood sugar, blood pressure and weight control, but since some people do not have that option and others simply want to “do it themselves”, the American Diabetes Association Diet experts have created some basic guidelines and recommendations. What follows is a brief summary of those guidelines.

The first recommendation from the experts applies to all individuals with problems controlling their blood sugar. Avoid the Fad diets. This is good advice for anyone. Fad diets never help people keep the weight off. They may lose weight quickly, only to gain it back in a short period of time. We have learned that “see-sawing” changes in weight are just as unhealthy as obesity. A safe diabetes diet or pre diabetes diet is a plan for life, not for short term weight loss.

The American diabetes association diet guidelines for people who are at risk for diabetes (a pre diabetes diet) call for high fiber foods, nutrient-rich foods and whole grains. Nutrient rich foods are sometimes referred to as nutrient dense foods. In short, the term means that the nutritional value of the food is high when compared to the caloric value. More complete information about nutrient dense foods is available on this web page.

The American diabetes association diet guidelines for people who already have diabetes are more specific. Get carbohydrates from fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes. Use low fat milk. Eat fiber rich foods. Less than 7 percent of total calories should come from saturated fat. Eat two servings of baked or broiled fish per week. Avoid trans fats. Reduce cholesterol intake to less than 200 mg/day.

The fish recommendation for the diabetes diet is because of the omega-3, long-chain fatty acids found primarily in fish. Some doctors recommend an even higher intake for blood sugar control and many recommend a fish oil supplement. There are other nutrients, botanicals and herbs that can help with blood sugar control and can be added to an appropriate diabetes or pre diabetes diet. For a complete list of diabetes specific dietary supplements, visit the Diabetes Type 2 Info Guide. There’s lots of information there for people who suffer from or are at risk for diabetes.

Gout Food To Avoid - 3 Top Tips

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

Gout is painful and debilitating. But it can be largely controlled by the food you eat. The gout food to avoid is the kind with high levels of purines. This substance produces uric acid. Too much uric acid in the body causes gout. So it follows that avoiding eating foods with high levels of purines will help to lessen the chances of a gout attack. Here is my top 3 list of some gout food to avoid…

1. Offal foods are bad for gout. Things like kidneys, tripe, liver and tongue should all stay well off your menu. So should any red meat, at least if taken in excessive quantities.

2. Shellfish are also off limits. Avoid eating scallops, cod roe, crab, lobster, etc. They may taste great, but gout is very, very painful, and there are other, better things you can eat for nutrition.

3. Alcohol… Sorry, but too much of the booze will only add to your gout pain. OK, you can have a couple of glasses of beer, or maybe a glass of wine occasionally, but keep it down to sensible limits.

Gout is a painful form of arthritis. Some 5% of all cases of arthritis is accounted for by gout. It affects the joints and characteristically the sufferer experiences sudden, usually severe, bouts of swelling with redness and pain, often warmth too, in one or several inflamed joints. If you lose excess weight, this will help too, but pay attention to the gout food to avoid and sudden, painful and debilitating attacks will be much less likely.
